Sunset behind the gothic main buildings of Glasgow University as seen from the nearby Kelvingrove Park. These buildings were designed by George Gilbert Scott and were constructed in the 1860s. However, the tower was not completed until the 1890s, when John Oldred Scott, Gilbert Scott’s son, added the distinctive open stonework spire. Set on Gilmorehill, one of the most popular spots to view it from is the top of the hill in the neighbouring Kelvingrove Park, one of the oldest public parks in the city, especially when the sun it setting behind it. This photograph was taken by Colin M. Drysdale.
