17. Kelvingrove Park At Sunset

Index    Previous   Next

Established in 1852, Kelvingrove Park is one of the oldest public parks in Glasgow. Situated on the banks of the River Kelvin in the heart of the city’s West End, it is popular with locals, visitors and students alike. This photograph shows the view at sunset looking across the West End of the city from the top of a big grassy slope (known simply as The Big Slope), which, on sunny days, is packed with people making the most of the weather. On the left of this image are the distinctive towers of the 1901 Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, while on the right is the gothic tower of the 1860s main buildings of Glasgow University. This photograph was taken by Colin M. Drysdale.
