Glasgow’s Squinty Bridge, with the Glasgow Tower in the background. Opened in 2006, this bridge is officially known as the Clyde Arc, but few residents of the city ever refer to it as such. It gained its nickname from the fact that is crosses the river an an angle, allowing it to have a higher clearance over the Clyde below. Its main span is 96 metres, with a total length of 136 metres. This photograph was taken at sunset by Colin M. Drysdale from the former Lancefield Quay ferrypoint, a short distance east of the bridge itself.
